Lancashire Care has been working together with other organisations to promote partnership working in order to improve the services they provide for people living in the area. As part of this they have recently been recognised for their work across the public, private and voluntary sectors.

The Trust’s recent partnerships have supported the organisation to improve health, wellbeing and care outcomes for people living in Lancashire, whilst receiving various commendations at national awards ceremonies across the country.
Sue Moore, Chief Operating Officer at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“Our partnerships with organisations such as the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Home Group, GE Healthcare, Ward Hadaway, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and Lancaster University have each been a great success. We recognise that each organisation has a different focus, however we are all trying to deliver the best service we can, and so by working together we are all able to contribute in our own ways.

“Working with our partners really enhances the services we provide, to the people that matter. It really is a privilege to work together and be part of so many partnerships and we plan to continue to build on this approach in 2018!”

Earlier last year, the Trust joined forces with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust to deliver the Myplace project, which encourages young people aged 13-24 years old to explore the environment by offering opportunities to participate in eco-therapy based activities. The project enables young people to develop new skills, increase their self-esteem, build resilience and improve their own self-confidence. Just a year on, the project came highly commended for Partnership Working at the first national, Children and Young People Mental Health (CYPMH) Awards.
Three of the Trust’s partnerships have been shortlisted in this year’s HSJ Partnership Awards which aim to recognise the best partnerships between the NHS and private sector companies. Home View, an innovative partnership with Home Group, is a 24 hours a day, supported housing service provides short-term accommodation for adults aged between 18-65 with mental health problems who have recently been discharged from hospital. Also shortlisted was the Trust’s Workforce Repository and Planning Tool (WRaPT) application, which is delivered in partnership with GE Healthcare. The application was shortlisted for its initiative and long-standing partnership between the NHS and private sector which helps the health and care system to transform during these changes, by providing the tools and techniques to collect, analyse and model information about the whole workforce. Ward Hadaway have been nominated for its work around the Trust’s Knowledge and Legal Advice Centre (KnowLA) which enables staff to access internal knowledge and legal advice that may have already been sought or held elsewhere. The system aims to save time, avoid duplication and enable internal knowledge to be shared across teams and networks.
The new NIHR Lancashire Clinical Research Facility (CRF), which sees the collaboration of the Trust, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Lancaster University has also been shortlisted for an award. The facility which was opened in November last year and one of only 23 in the country, has been shortlisted for Clinical Research Site of the Year Award at The North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards. The partnership has been recognised for discovering new treatments and improving care for the future. The collaboration provides a unique combination of both physical and mental health research expertise and the opportunity for people in the community opportunity to take part in early-phase clinical research trials for dementia, neurosciences, oncology and many more.
